The ‘Golden Visa’, is a RESIDENCY PERMIT BY INVESTMENT FOR NON-EU NATIONALS giving the right to stay and work in Spain. It grants automatic residency in Spain when you purchase a property for €500,000 or more whether it is acquiring one or more than one properties and it also can be a combination of different types of properties including not only residential but commercial, land, parking spaces, etc., (or other investments for over €1m).
This is a new possibility open to UK nationals who wish to invest in Spain since they are not EU citizens following Brexit.
One of the most relevant characteristic is that the Golden Visa does not require you to live in Spain a minimum of 183 days per year, you just need to visit Spain once during each residency period and the process is extended.
If your golden visa application is accepted, you will receive a visa for one year. You can renew it for another 2 years and after this for another 5 years. After this period you can apply for permanent residency.
It is possible to renew the visa as long as you keep the property or investment.
Last but not least, the Golden Visa grants you the right to work and allows you to free travel to the Schengen countries of Europe.
Basic documentation required
– Valid passport
– Health Insurance, public or private, with a company that operates in Spain
– Application form
– Proof of sufficient means to support yourself and the dependant family members during the residence in Spain
– Proof of the investment. i.e. title deed in the case of a property
– Criminal record certificate issued in your country
– Marriage certificate, if also requested for the spouse (extensive to common law spouse)
– Birth certificate of the children, if applicable
